Grandmother Hart's Visit

My Grandmother (my Mom's Mom) came for a visit and stayed with Mom and Don for a week in Cypress. Unfortunately, I haven't seen her since my wedding and have missed her terribly. I was so excited that she and my Mom drove to Columbia for a day. This was the first time she was able to see Carlysle. Carlysle was just waking up from a nap so I let Grandmother Hart walk in first to get her up. Carlysle took one look up from her crib, decided she did not recognize this person and proceeded to turn and hide her face...refusing to look back up. She just layed there frozen in her crib. I'm pretty sure she was thinking "Ok, if I can't see her, she can't see me". Thankfully, Grandmother Hart did not have her feelings hurt because it was quite funny. So we had a good laugh over it and Carlysle did eventually warm up and became quite fond of Grandmother Hart.

Thank you Grandmother Hart for coming to visit. We enjoyed spending time with you and hope to see you again soon!

Happy Memorial Day!

For Memorial Day, I took Carlysle to our friends' (Kyle and Sara) house. They have a beautiful new house and an awesome pool. So Carlysle got to see how much fun a "real" pool can be. She loved it! She was kicking her little feet like crazy and splashing in the water. There were lots of other kids there and she a good time watching them play. Daddy joined us later after he got off work and we grilled out for dinner. We had such a great time. Thanks to Kyle and Sara for having us over.

New Pool

I decided to buy a baby pool for Carlysle and I to play in during the hot summer months. Joey warned me that the one I wanted looked huge but I ignored him and bought it anyway. Well, it is HUGE! So big that Carlysle can't even sit in it, she has to be in a float! But we had a good time.

Mastering the Sippy Cup

We have been trying to introduce the sippy cup as Carlysle's pediatrician recommended when she has her juice. It was a little harder than I thought it would be. I guess I kind of assumed it would be like a bottle and she would just know what to do with it.......I was wrong. The first few times were a nightmare. You would think we had asked her to drink some poison given to her in a cup of flames. So we kind of gave up for awhile and then bought a different kind of sippy cup and tried again. Of course, the moment she saw "the devil's cup" she burst into hysterics but I pressed on and nicely forced it into her mouth. Low and behold she suddenly stopped crying and actually drank her juice.......and chewed on the spout.....then drank some juice.......and then chewed on the spout. She's still a little confused by the spout and sometimes thinks it's a teething toy that conveniently holds juice. Anyway, after proving to her Dad that she really was drinking from the sippy cup....he had to take pictures.

Daddy/Daughter Night

So I've started taking tennis lessons on Wednesday nights with my friend, Oakley. I know.....it's a funny thought (me and a tennis racket) and it's even funnier to watch. I usually make contact with the ball 2 out of 10 attempts and those 2 balls usually end up in the court next to ours....which would be great.....if I was playing with the people in the court next to ours. I tend to hit the ball like I'm playing baseball and I also use my wrist instead of my forearm. The teacher says I have a very strong wrist. Great, isn't that what everyone wants....a strong wrist. What the heck am I supposed to do with that? So if anyone has any pointers for me, I'll gladly take them.
Anyway, it is a great way for me to get some more physical activity and to get out of the house for a few hours. So now Joey and Carlysle get to have Daddy/daughter time. And since I take videos of Carlysle for Joey when we're home during the day, he decided to take some video while I was gone. She seems to be missing me terribly......

Carlysle and Riggs

Here are two videos of Carlysle "playing" with Riggs. She absolutely loves Riggs and watches every move he makes. Riggs, however, could care less about Carlysle. We try to get him to come over and see her and he just walks right past her. For these videos he did sit by her......but only for a few minutes.

Happy Mother's Day!

Joey was moonlighting in Hartsville this weekend so we were able to spend Mother's Day with my Mom and Don in Cypress. We had a wonderful weekend.....even though Joey was working. Today we took Carlysle to church and she made through 45 minutes of "Big Church". She started to get a little squirmy right before the sermon so my Mom took her to the nursery. We were able to get some very cute pictures of her in her church dress after church. I'm sorry there are so many but so many of them were just too cute!
Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers.

Playing with Daddy

I know this video looks scary but Carlysle absolutely loves when her Daddy does this. She just giggles and giggles.....meanwhile I'm having a heart attack. What can I say she's a thrill seeker!

Bathtime

These are pictures we took of Carlysle just after she had a bath. We try to make her hair stand up but really she doesn't have enough to do that....yet.
