Mastering the Sippy Cup

We have been trying to introduce the sippy cup as Carlysle's pediatrician recommended when she has her juice. It was a little harder than I thought it would be. I guess I kind of assumed it would be like a bottle and she would just know what to do with it.......I was wrong. The first few times were a nightmare. You would think we had asked her to drink some poison given to her in a cup of flames. So we kind of gave up for awhile and then bought a different kind of sippy cup and tried again. Of course, the moment she saw "the devil's cup" she burst into hysterics but I pressed on and nicely forced it into her mouth. Low and behold she suddenly stopped crying and actually drank her juice.......and chewed on the spout.....then drank some juice.......and then chewed on the spout. She's still a little confused by the spout and sometimes thinks it's a teething toy that conveniently holds juice. Anyway, after proving to her Dad that she really was drinking from the sippy cup....he had to take pictures.

Try the Nuby soft spout cups. (I found them at Wal-Mart.) McCanless transitioned extremely well with these at an early age. No fuss at all, believe it or not! Good luck!
